The museum park
The term museum park for contemporary sculptures refers to an area with park-like characteristics, that is, a non-urban area for public or collective use that includes contemporary sculptures as part of its identity. The typology of museum parks is found in the tendency to transform traditional museums and in the search for new ways of proposing a less detached and “sanctified” relationship with the public.

The wonders of MuSaBa
MuSaBa’s relationship with such an historically rich and varied natural environment that is still scarcely populated has become, at a time of heightened environmental consciousness, an important instrument for the integration of nature and culture. Contemporary art and merges with the environment, as landscape becomes sculpture and sculptures become element of landscape. The site was chosen for this project because the environment offers possibilities to use natural elements and local materials. The artist have connected with the landscape in various ways, sensitively using intuition to relate to the “genius loci” (spirit of place) and to other artists. The majority of the projects have been conceived in situ, through the careful analysis of the site’s components: its topography, vegetation, historical remains and cultural heritage.

Interest in the environment as a work theme
In this landscape, sculptures have gone from being decorative and integrative elements to being autonomous elements that integrate with their surroundings. Each sculpture acquires a social role and becomes a significant element: it is no longer a furnishing but becomes an autonomous subject that gives rise to a new perception of space. MuSaBa has become an important instrument in the integration between nature and culture, between contemporary art and environment, and the Foundation contributes towards the perfecting of suitable cultural programmes and the transformation of the environment.
